Research

I study brainstem reflex circuits as a Ph.D. candidate at Brown University. I investigate neuronal circuits involved in some reflexives that occur unconsciously, similar to the automatic knee-jerk responses seen when a doctor taps your knee. My research integrates findings from single-cell sequencing data, molecular cell techniques labeling cells with immunohistochemistry, and behavioral assays after genetically targeting and manipulating a subset of neurons. By studying these circuits, we can get a glimpse of how neurons process information.
