My interest in public service comes from my cerebral palsy. My mother went into labor at 26 weeks, and the main reason I am healthy is because of NIH-funded therapies that prolonged my gestation and allowed my lungs to fully develop. As an adult, I have been fortunate to be able to give back to the NIH, the institution that gave me my health, as a research fellow. My hope is to lead a research career that helps us understand the brain and use this information to help improve the lives for others with disabilities!
